Terms & Conditions

Our Guarantee

By using our site you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms of use. Please review the following terms and conditions carefully. Check them periodically for changes. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions, you should not purchase from this site. By purchasing from ClamsDirect you agree that this transaction is governed by the laws of the state of California. All livestock is guaranteed to arrive alive. These are living animals and some variations and losses may occur due to shipping stress. This is very infrequent and will be corrected promptly if we are informed directly.

Please notify us within 3 hours of arrival by email or phone 619 593-0565 to be eligible for credit of your livestock. To do so, contact Barry Neigut by Email at: barry@clamsdirect.com. A DIGITAL PHOTO IS REQUIRED WITHIN 12 HOURS of the acceptance of your shipment and we may ask you to ship the DOA specimen via priority mail before we will credit your account with us.If a delivery is refused for any reason, the customer will be held liable for the full cost of the invoice. Weather related delays, mechanical failure etc. which result in loss will not be covered. Orders shipped to a FedEx hold facility must be picked up within the first three hours of opening NO EXCEPTIONS! We CAN NOT be responsiable for your water quality or tank mates. We do not credit your credit card back but instead provide store credit for future purchases. Credit must be used within one year. We will not cover shipping charges and shipping charges will not credited back to your account. Please contact us immediately if you have questions or concerns about your order. We will do our best to get back with you as soon as possible.

NOTE: No guarantee is offered on shipments NOT held for pick up at FedEx during periods of HOT or COLD weather. If we send the livestock to an address other than where your tank is located (IE your business address rather than your home), We will NOT guarantee the shipment as we have been finding out that when we do this in most cases they do not get acclimated for several hours after arrival.

No guarantee is made on color. We do our best to place an accurate representation online but there are simply too many variables to guarantee color. Shipping stress can modify the color of the livestock, as can different types, brands, color, and strengths of lighting used. Also, variations in video cards and monitors can make the same image online appear different on two different computers. There is simply no way we can guarantee what you see online will be identical to how you perceive the clams in your tank under your lighting after shipping. We however will do our best to show you a reasonable representation so that you will not be disappointed when you receive your clams.

PLEASE follow the acclimation procedure to avoid any problems. We have no control of your water and lighting so PLEASE ask us about what is recommended to keep your new livestock before you order. Lighting and acclimation is listed under the help section of this web site so we encourage you to read it first before ordering. You may also check out this forum for more clam care information. http://www.reefaquariumforum.com We recommend that ALL livestock be quarantined in a STRESS FREE environment after shipping before placing in main display tank.

Shipping

We ship to the contiguous 48 states of the USA only. All livestock orders must be shipped within 3 work days of your order.

We use FedEx PRIORITY Overnight shipping for livestock delivery to your door before 10:30 AM the following morning for most areas. Some others are only using STANDARD Overnight which is cheaper but could be as late as 3PM! We think the extra few dollars is worth it to prevent your livestock from being in a shipping container any longer than necessary. We ship Monday through Friday. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PICK UP AT YOUR LOCAL FEDEX OFFICE TO AVOID HAVING YOU LIVESTOCK RIDING IN A TRUCK FOR HOURS. This is required during periods of hot or cold weather otherwise it will void our guarantee. I might add that FedEx has done a great job with my shipments. We have tried several carriers and I must say FedEx does the best job by far. Thank you FedEx!

There is a $6.00 fee for box/handling on every order. We package in insulated containers to protect your livestock. There is NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR HEAT OR COLD PACKS. One thing we would like to mention regarding shipping; we do everything possible to protect your livestock. We pack your livestock in a Styrofoam 1.5" container and double and triple bag and also have liners in them but once the package is out of our hands, we have no control as how it is handled by the shipper. We even mark the boxes, "PERISHABLE" and have arrows indicating that the box is to remain upright. Recently, FedEx has been significantly increasing shipping prices due to massive increases in fuel costs and other increases in overhead. We have been avoiding passing on these increases to our customers for some time now. In the meantime, we have been working hard to come up with a solution to these high shipping costs while keeping our livestock prices low. We have have a  FLAT RATE SHIPPING across the board to $39.95. Believe me, that still is a lot cheaper than regular FedEx pricing by 30-40%. FREE shipping on orders more than 10 clams but does not apply on other special offers or discounts. There is a restocking fee of $15.00 for cancelled orders.

Saturday deliveries are an extra $15, however if you opt to hold the order for pickup at FedEx, that fee will be waived.

How to Shop

1. Select the items that you wish to purchase by using add to cart button below each item.

3. Check out by filling out your customer information, signing up for the newsletter (optional), selecting your payment method, and being sure to specify a delivery date within three days of your order that you will be available to receive your shipment.

Acclimation

1. Dim lights in the room where you will be opening the package. Going from complete darkness of the shipping container to bright lighting of your surroundings can create extreme stress in your specimen. 2. Turn off aquarium lighting. 3. Float the bag while still sealed in the top of your aquarium for 15 minutes. This step helps to slowly adjust the temperature of the water in the holding bag to the temperature of the water in your aquarium. Keeping the bag sealed will maintain the current oxygen level that the specimen is accustomed to. 4. Once the bag has been floated for 15 minutes cut the bag open right under the closure and fold down the top of the bag approximately 1” and allow the bag to float on the surface of the water. For heavier pieces that will not float, place the bag in a plastic container or specimen container. 5. Add ½ cup of aquarium water to the bag. Wait 5 minutes and add another ½ cup aquarium water. Continue in this manner until the bag is full. 6. Remove the bag from the aquarium and pour out and discard half of the water that is in the bag. 7. Once again, float the bag in the aquarium and add ½ cup of aquarium water to the bag. Wait 5 minutes and add another ½ cup aquarium water. Continue in this manner until the bag is full. 8. Net the specimen from the shipping bag and release into the aquarium. 9. Do not add any of the shipping water to your aquarium.

***NOTE*** Just because a piece of livestock is in your cart DOES NOT MEAN THIS ITEM IS RESERVED. Someone else can buy a clam that you have in your cart if they checkout before you do. We sell unique items in limited quantities. If livestock was removed from inventory BEFORE a purchase is completed, a potentially malicious individual could hold up and prevent customers from purchasing livestock. Also, greedy individuals could add many pieces of livestock to their cart while they decide which ones they want. This practice with the sheer volume of customers we have on the store at any given time (especially when we first publish new livestock) would cause a lot of chaos as large portions of the store would be held up while a handful of individuals decide what they want. The livestock would also appear to be bouncing in and out of inventory to other customers. As a result, livestock is ONLY taken out of inventory once your order is complete. The first person to complete the transaction gets the livestock. For faster checkout times, please register your customer information with the store. This will save you a lot of time when trying to get the items you want. Signing up for the newsletter will also let you know about new inventory faster as well.
